little spitfires

February 22-23, 2024
Room 111, The Hollywood Roosevelt
Los Angeles, CA

Little Spitfires ran from February 22-23, 2024 in Room 111 at The Hollywood Roosevelt, just before exhibitors moved into the space for Felix Art Fair. Through site and concept, the exhibit actively considered off-spaces and their role in artistic ideation and experimentation. Specifically, Little Spitfires responded to the emergent trend of market-oriented galleries co-opting off-space and DIY aesthetics to advance their programming. What happens to art as formal and informal spaces (and third spaces) merge? How do we create new spaces and, in turn, new channels for exchange and growth (and failure)? With these questions in mind, each artist received a small wooden lightbox as a prompt and container for their work.

The exhibition was curated by Greg Jenkins and included work by Scott Benzel, Amy Chiao, Kristofor Giordano, Luke Haeger, Dallas Havoc, Chris Johst, Philipp Lerman, NAOMI, Nikki Ochoa, and Kathi Schulz.
