- 61.5 million Americans experience mental illness in a given year
- 13.6 million Americans live with a serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia, major depression, or bipolar disorder
- 9.2 million adults have co-occurring mental health & addiction disorders

- 60% of adults and almost 50% of youth with a mental illness received no mental health services in the previous year
- 7.5 million children with a diagnosable psychiatric disorder never receive help

- Affordability: 50% cite cost as a barrier for seeking treatment
- Education: Over 40% feel they don’t need treatment or can treat themselves
- Stigma: 30% are concerned about confidentiality and negative perceptions others (and they themselves) will have about them
- Awareness: 20% state that they are unaware of where to go for services
- Access: With approximately 1,000 patients for every 1 provider, 60% of Americans live without sufficient access to treatment

- Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among Americans aged 15-24
- More than 90% of those who die by suicide had one or more mental disorders
- Although military members comprise less than 1% of the US population, veterans represent 20% of suicides nationally
- Serious mental illness costs America $193.2 billion in lost earnings per year
